you know what I want to add a little bit more to that post. Mostly about the "Mel got removed from Jayce and finally became her own character" bit.

I fear my first reblog hasn't really captured the spirit of that yet. We get to know Mel in the second episode of season 1 and her first scene shows us how calculating and smart she is. She is also very aloof in this scene, not even acknowledging the person handing her the puzzles. Her conversation with Elora, while still showing some sort of relationship, is also distanced. She talks about her riches and how she is "still the poorest medarda" despite being the richest person in Piltover.

So what this tells us is this:

She is alone. In her family she seems to be the odd one out. She thinks herself to be standing in the shadow of her family (=mother though we only find that out in episode 8 of season 1). In short this basically tells us a contradiction. While everything they already gave us at this point in the show tells us she is incredible, smart, knowledgeable etc, she sells herself short.

When Mel talks to her mother about her banishment it isn't just a conversation, it explains to us who Mel is and why she is that way. It tells us that in a way she is self conscious and hides herself away. This is the starting point of her character, keep that in mind.

Ok, that brings us to my next point. How she used that childrens toy to her advantage. Again, smart as fuck. Had she not done this, then Jayce would have been banished. There were 4 votes against 3 meaning gaining that one vote changed the fate of Jayce, literally. She didn't find Jayce interesting as a person but as an investment during this time though. Nothing about him influenced any of her decisions, especially not here. She chose to give away that toy and she chose to vote against Jayce's banishment.

The look Mel and Jayce give each other after Jayce and Viktor found their way to Hextech also already spoke volumes. They obviously had the hots for each other and like good for them, lmao. After the timejump their relationship has shifted as well. While she still obviously sees the investment, she now also sees him as a person, too. They are extremely comfortable with each other.

Now after Jayce didn't show their newest Hextech project? She did walk away but that also gave us something:

She very obviously isn't resentful. That is also seen in how, while rightfully being annoyed, she immediately gets why Jayce left after their night together. Her giving Jayce the position in the council ALSO wasn't cause she loved him but for political reasons. That, again, tells us another thing about her:

She can clearly separate work and home life.

All of this, while maybe including Jayce, are of her own character and not because of someone else. We see her acting in the council too, and that's also interesting. Because while some others like Salo seem to be ready to jump around and scream, she never does. She waits, calculates, listens and then offers her voice. She is never holding back but she also doesn't just react crazy. Not once. Not after the explosion happens in act 1 of season 1, not when Jayce talks about Magic, not when Vi is in the council with Caitlyn, not even in the end of season 1 when Jayce proposes the peace treaty with Zaun. None of this is linked to Jayce or because of Jayce. She just is her own character.

And then season 1 did something incredibly fascinating. Now they actually introduced a character Mel seems to have some dependency to. Her mother; Ambessa Medarda. It's reluctant and it's awkward and it strengthens her character very much.

At this point in the story the love between Jayce and her is already blossoming, it's after their sex scene. Their relationship doesn't influence any of her other decisions, she doesn't suddenly act differently to before or becomes dependent on Jayce. If anything it, again, strengthens her.

When in the beginning we saw her as thinking she is standing in her mothers shadow, she now steps into the light when she steps up and calls out Ambessa. When she lets go of the weight of family holding her down to vote for peace, it also shows how she's grown. She isn't distanced anymore, nor is she someone who stills sees herself in her mothers shadow. Her character went from incredible with an arc before her to that arc being masterfully concluded. And that happened WITH Jayce and not BECAUSE of Jayce. When in the beginning she was aloof, distanced and calculating, in the end she was ready to show herself to Jayce, be herself and be caring. She wasn't distanced and gave Jayce a look into her life (telling him about her family after he told her about his troubles).

She was still very smart but also let herself be emotional about a decision, she gave away the weight of her family and left the shadow it cast over her completely.

Anyways yeah just wanted to talk more about Mel. Because she was nothing but very interesting in season 1 and saying she just now got interesting after not being with Jayce rubbed me the wrong way whoops

Never has my opinion about a non-antagonist character changed so drastically than it has about Shigure ok there might have been some before but right now I can’t think of any.

My hot Bridgerton take is that I really don’t care for Eloise that much. She was really like “oh it’s so stifling to live in a society where there is a right and wrong way to be a woman” and then instead of coming away from that like “there isn’t a right or wrong way to be any gender at all” she’s like “actually, there IS a right way to be a woman, it’s just MY way not everyone else’s 😌”

The Queen without her Heels

The Monaco sun glittered over the paddock, casting sharp rays on the bustling scene. Amid the chaos of engineers, media, and fans, one figure always stood out.

Yn.

Tiny but commanding. Graceful yet grounded. Fierce and brilliant. The 22-year-old team principal of McLaren had quickly made a name for herself in Formula 1 not only because of her tactical brilliance and charisma but also due to her signature look: impossibly high heels.

She walked the paddock like a queen, a click-clack rhythm announcing her presence before she even spoke. No matter the weather, the terrain, or the hour, Yn wore her stilettos like a second skin. Her petite frame, standing at 1.57m, was elevated—literally and figuratively—by her towering footwear. And the drivers? Every single one of them adored her.

Even their girlfriends were head over heels for her. They admired her, respected her, some even confessed they had a bit of a crush on her themselves.

"There she goes," Pierre murmured, watching Yn glide past the Alpine motorhome, the sun bouncing off her hair like a spotlight.

"How does she not fall?" joked Alex, who leaned casually against the wall with Lily.

Lily smirked. "Because she's not human. She's a queen."

But today... today the paddock would see something no one ever expected.

It started innocently enough. Yn was walking from the McLaren motorhome to the pit lane, Lando and Oscar flanking her like loyal bodyguards.

"Do you have the strategy briefing notes?" she asked Oscar, who handed them over without breaking stride.

"Do I ever disappoint you, boss?" he said with a wink.

"You did forget your helmet in Singapore," Lando teased.

Yn rolled her eyes and clicked her tongue. "Children, please. Focus."

They were halfway down the paddock when it happened. A crack. A snap. A stumble.

One of her heels—a stunning red patent Louboutin—snapped clean off.

"Oh shit," Yn gasped, clutching onto Lando's arm.

Oscar immediately steadied her other side. "You okay?"

"No, I'm not okay! My heel just DIED," she cried dramatically.

The boys burst out laughing.

"It's not funny! These heels were limited edition!"

"You have twenty pairs in the motorhome," Lando snorted.

"That is not the point."

Eventually, her assistant arrived with a pair of sneakers.

"I feel... wrong," Yn whispered, staring down at her feet like they were foreign objects.

"You look cute," Oscar tried to reassure.

"I look like a baby duck," she muttered.

Lando grinned. "More like a drunk baby duck."

She smacked his arm. "Rude."

But it was true. Without the added height of her stilettos, her sense of balance was completely off. She kept stumbling, tripping over air, and walking like she'd just been born.

"I don't understand! How do people do this?" she cried as she shuffled toward the garage.

Oscar caught her for the third time. "Careful, boss."

"I was made for heels. This is unnatural."

"Think of it as... character development," Lando teased.

"Think of it as an HR complaint if you don't shut up," she fired back.

And so the day continued, with Oscar and Lando forming a protective triangle around Yn. Every step she took was monitored. Every wobble, every flail, every near-miss. It was like a royal guard detail.

When the two were finally pulled away for media duties, they were reluctant to leave.

"Are you sure you'll be okay?" Oscar asked.

"Yeah," Yn lied.

Lando bent slightly to her eye level. "If anything happens, call us."

"I will not perish without you, children. Now go."

Famous last words.

As Yn tried to walk up the shallow steps outside the Ferrari motorhome, her foot caught on... nothing. She flailed, her arms windmilling wildly. And then—

"Woah! Got you!"

Lewis's arms wrapped around her from behind just as she lost her balance.

"Careful, darling," he said gently, guiding her upright.

But the stumble had momentum. Before she could stabilize, she went down again.

"Yn!" Charles's voice rang out as he sprinted forward and caught her mid-fall, sweeping her into his arms like a princess.

"I am so embarrassed," she groaned, clutching her forehead.

Charles just smiled down at her. "You fall like a queen, at least."

"This is a disaster."

Lewis crouched beside them, brushing hair from her face. "You okay?"

"My knees hurt. My pride is gone. My life is in shambles."

Charles laughed, carrying her toward the Ferrari lounge. "We’ll fix your knees. Pride... we’ll leave that for tomorrow."

Inside, they laid her on a plush sofa. Charles retrieved a first-aid kit while Lewis knelt beside her.

"Let me see," he said gently, lifting her leg slightly.

"Be gentle. I’m fragile."

Lewis chuckled. "You’re the least fragile person I know."

Charles returned with ice and knelt opposite Lewis. Together, they pressed cold compresses to her knees, murmuring reassurances.

"This is the most pampered I’ve ever been," Yn mumbled.

"Good. You deserve it," Charles said, not looking up.

"I feel like a princess."

"You are one," Lewis replied softly, brushing her cheek with his thumb.

When the door opened again, chaos followed.

"What happened?!" Lando burst in, followed closely by Oscar, Max, George, and even Pierre.

"She tripped," Charles said simply, still holding the ice in place.

"Where were you two?!" Max pointed at Oscar and Lando.

"Media duties! We were gone for fifteen minutes!"

"And in those fifteen minutes, she almost died," George said dramatically.

"I’m literally right here," Yn said, waving a hand.

Lando was by her side instantly, taking over Charles's place. "I leave you for one second..."

Oscar sat by her head, brushing her hair back. "You okay, boss?"

"Just a little bruised."

"Her knees are scraped," Lewis informed the group.

"She can’t walk without heels," Charles added.

"It’s like watching Bambi on ice," Pierre said, earning a round of laughter.

Yn groaned. "Y’all are rude."

Max folded his arms. "I’m mad we weren’t there."

"Yeah," George agreed. "Why do they get to be the heroes?"

Charles smirked. "Because we were at the right place at the right time."

Lewis nodded solemnly. "And we answered the call."

Oscar scoffed. "Please. I carried her water bottle once when she had a paper cut. I deserve some credit."

Lando lifted Yn’s hand. "She held onto me when her heel broke. That was true intimacy."

"Boys," Yn interrupted. "Stop fighting. You’re all my knights."

Pierre leaned in. "But who’s your favorite knight?"

"Nice try."

The next day, she returned to her stilettos, walking with newfound pride and purpose.

"You look taller," Charles noted.

"I feel invincible," she said with a wink.

Lando sighed dreamily. "The queen has returned."

Oscar nodded. "Long live the queen."

And so she reigned once more—high above the chaos, balanced and brilliant, with a paddock full of loyal, slightly lovesick knights at her heels.

that child wanted someone TO TAKE CARE OF HIM!!!! that he was starstruck by shen jiu's immortal appearance, by that otherworldly immortal CHOOSING HIM!!!!! (this is the important bit!) doesn't mean he "had a crush". please. don't cheapen lbh's complexity like that. he thought he was getting a shifu, a shizun, a father figure. and that hope got completely obliterated the same day, and over and over with each pacing day, as the years went by.

do you know how many things SY!SQQ had to do to WIN Binghe over????? let me make you a list of the many times SY!SQQ was kind and the effect it had on Binghe:

--Giving Binghe medicine to treat his wounds (that didn't win Binghe's heart, it make him wary of this new development)

--Making Binghe ride with him on the carriage AND smiling at him (that didn't win Binghe's heart, but it made him go doki doki)

--When the OOC lock unfroze, promising that he would protect BInghe from the on (that didn't win Binghe's heart, but it did soften him and made him believe in SQQ, since the words were backed by his actions against the Skinner demon in order to save LBH and NYY)

--Giving Binghe a new cultivation manual ((that didn't win Binghe's heart, but "SHIZUN GAVE THIS TO ME!" For someone who doesn't have anything, being gifted something so precious was really meaningful)

--At the demon invasion, VERBALLY and OPENLY stating that he was 1000% sure Binghe would win. (that didn't win Binghe's heart-- no no, wait, this is it. This is truly the start of it all, because SQQ BELIEVED IN HIM. Listen. Listen. That level of blind faith was something that REWIRED Binghe's brain. He had NO ONE to believe in him until then!)

--When SQQ got poisoned by Without a Cure to protect Binghe, at the cost of his own life (BANG!!!!!! HERE WE GO!! The beginning of the congee making saga!! )

--Protecting Binghe FROM HIMSELF in the dream realm

--Treating him as the specialest boy in the world for almost 3 years

it's VERY IMPORTANT to understand that what won Binghe's love was Shen Qingqiu's UNCONDITIONAL LOVE: the willingness to put himself in harm's way to protect Binghe, give Binghe what he needs (a proper place to sleep, attention, encouragement, lessons, access to knowledge, etc), caring for Binghe in any way necessary, taking REVENGE on Binghe's name to punish his bullies; and the decisiveness with which he did all that, the fact that Shen Qingqiu never ever truly regrets sacrificing himself for and loving Binghe.

and with all that in one side, Binghe decided to RECIPROCATE. because that's just how he loves, and what he felt SQQ's love for him deserved in turn.

now, after everything i've said, do you actually think that someone like Shen Jiu would EVER qualify for the esteemed position of "Binghe's loved one"?

pd: well, the sexual attraction does mean he actually went "pretty immortal 😳" at some point, but it's not like that would be enough for binghe lol the unconditional love made the attraction stronger. if the novel hadn't gone that route, sqq would have been just binghe's sexual awakening
